IoT SIM setup and support checklist
For first-time setup or a connection problem, separate device power, SIM activation, mobile-network registration and data access. Use the settings supplied for your specific SIM and device. A working connection in one device does not prove compatibility with every modem or destination.
Record the device and symptoms
Note the country, device and modem model, firmware version, time of the issue and whether the device has worked before. Capture the error message and relevant network status without exposing credentials.
Check installation and plan status
Follow the device manual when inserting a physical SIM or applying an eSIM profile. Confirm power, antenna installation, the selected SIM slot, activation status and allowance validity. Do not delete an eSIM profile as a routine troubleshooting step.
Check APN and data settings
Compare the APN and any required authentication fields with the instructions for your issued SIM. Do not copy APN values from another carrier or a demonstration screenshot. Check mobile-data and roaming settings against the agreed plan and device documentation.
Separate registration from application access
If the modem cannot register, report its network status and the deployment location. If it registers but an application fails, include the affected service and the relevant connection requirements. Do not disable security controls simply to make a test pass.
Use a controlled comparison
If the device instructions and plan permit it, compare with a known-compatible test device or an approved working SIM. Record what changes; phone connectivity alone does not establish compatibility with the target IoT hardware.
Escalate with a useful evidence package
Send the device details, destination, issue time, symptoms and completed checks. Provide SIM identifiers only through an agreed private support channel when requested, not in a public screenshot or inquiry URL. Contact the team before resets or firmware changes on deployed equipment.
Activation, replacement and renewal
After deployment, agree on who manages platform access, usage review and renewal. For a failed or lost physical SIM, request the applicable replacement or return process. Fees, eligibility, delivery and response arrangements must be confirmed; this page does not establish a free-replacement policy or a support SLA.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use the APN shown in any tutorial?
No. Use the settings confirmed for your specific SIM or profile. Screenshots may show an example carrier and are not universal configuration instructions.
What should I send to support?
Country, device and modem model, issue time, network status, error details and checks already completed. Share identifiers privately only when requested; never send passwords in the inquiry helper.
